Rehabilitating yourself correctly after a Hysterectomy or even a C-Section is an often-overlooked part of the process. Usually (and unfortunately) you’re just left to get on with life… and you do. Hysterectomies are considered a major abdominal surgery but don’t be scared to MOVE. Just do it slowly and with some thought.
Start by gentle walking. 5 – 10 minutes to get the blood flowing and build from there.
Incorporate pelvic floor exercises into your daily routine. A good strong pelvic floor will help eliminate any other problems that might arise as well.
Core exercises. Avoid things like planks and situps, but there are some fantastic exercises that will work your abdominals.
Impact activities and loaded work. You will most likely be told not to lift anything for the first 6 to 10 weeks after surgery. When you do start to do loaded activities, go slow.
Work with someone that specialises in this type of recovery and can advise you on safe techniques.
