There are several positives for exercising during your pregnancy for both the mother and the baby. Less weight gain, feel better, reduced stress, shorter labours and faster recovery. Exercise can also help reduce several common pregnancy complaints including gestational diabetes, fatigue, leg cramps, varicose veins and joint swelling.
There is also evidence that weight bearing exercise can help reduce the length of labour and delivery complications. Obviously, care must be taken during exercise and adjustments made as your pregnancy progresses. You won’t make specific gains; however we can work to maintain your baseline fitness levels which in turn will help with post-partum recovery.
